Public policy science needs

Preserving and managing common goods such as water, biodiversity and soil, anticipating and managing natural, food and environmental risks, and initiating food and agro-ecological transitions are all societal issues in INRAE’s field of expertise. All of these issues fall within the remit of public policies and call for their development.

The major public policies in INRAE’s fields are reflected in European and international directives and agreements, which are generally translated into national laws and plans, right down to the local level. These policies have a variety of aims: animal welfare, the CAP, the nitrates directive or the green algae plan, etc.

Some of these are illustrated here by examples of INRAE’s support activities.
